SASSA SRD Status Check for R350 Grant & Payment Dates

Did you know that SASSA SRD Status Check for R350 is still rolling out payment for the SRD R350 grant until March 2023, next year?

I know it might be less interesting since most applications were rejected since stricter requirements but you'll be happy to know there's still hope for you to qualify for the R350 grant.

So today I want to walk you through the quick guide to check your SRD grant application status and how to fix issues to be reconsidered.

Check Your SRD Grant Status

If you want to check the status of your R350 grant application, follow these two simple steps:

Website:

Scroll down to the subheading '(My) Application status' on the SASSA SRD website

To verify your account, enter your identification number and cellphone number

You will receive your status and a reason for the rejection if your application was not approved.

WhatsApp:

  • SASSA SRD can be contacted via WhatsApp (082 046 8553) and a 'status' message can be sent

  • Following that, you will need to enter your ID and the cellphone number you used during registration or application

  • Get the status of your application instantly

If your application is approved, you'll receive an SMS confirming payment details; alternatively, you can view the details on the SRD website.

Otherwise, you can appeal the R350 grant decision, but first, let's look at what the various SRD statuses mean.

What Does Each Status Mean

The following is a list of all the SRD application statuses and what they mean.

Pending:

SASSA SRD grant applications lack certain documents or details, and to resolve this you must resubmit them with the correct and updated information. Please check Sassa Payments

Application complete:

Your application status has been updated to complete since you have submitted all the required information. SASSA will verify your details and send a confirmation with payment dates via SMS once completed.

Banking details pending:

There is a discrepancy between the submitted bank account and the applicant's details. Banking details must only be registered in your name.

Month pending (e.g., May pending):

Each month, applicants are required to submit reconsiderations to determine if they are still eligible for the grant.

Declined:

Your application was unsuccessful for several reasons that will be shared with you. You can find more detailed information about why your application was declined here.

  • Age Outside Range: Applicants must be between 18 and 60 years old.

  • Alternative Income Source Identified: SASSA has identified a consistent monthly income greater than R595 in your bank account.

  • Existing SASSA Grant: You are an existing SASSA grant recipient.

  • Gov Payroll Registered: The application indicates that you are currently employed by a government agency.

  • NSFAS Registered: NSFAS-registered students will not be eligible for the R350 SRD grant.

How to Submit SRD Grant Appeal for Reconsideration

You have the option of appealing a rejection decision if you believe the reason for the rejection is incorrect.

The process of appealing is quick and simple, but SASSA may need more time to verify the new information.

Follow these steps to submit an appeal:

STEP 1: Go to the srd.dsd.gov.za site and click on the green bar that says "click here to lodge an appeal or check the status of your appeal"

STEP 2: Enter your ID number and phone number used to submit the application and click on Send Pin.

STEP 3: Verify your application details by entering the pin you received on your phone.

STEP 4: Select the appeal month and the appeal reason.

And that's it. SASSA would have received your appeal and begun the process of reviewing your application.

How to Get Paid Your SRD R350 Grant

To receive their grant money, beneficiaries of the R350 SRD should use the money transfer into their bank accounts.

As opposed to waiting in long lines for other payment methods, it is the most convenient way to collect grant money.

The best part is that you can withdraw the money for free at your bank's ATM.

Alternatively, you can collect your R350 at the selected supermarkets (Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer, USave, and Checkers) on the specified confirmation date.

SRD Payment Dates Schedule

Your R350 SRD grant will not be paid on a specific date. According to the ID number group, SASSA used to announce the payment schedule each month.

However, now they contact approved applicants directly to let them know when their funds are available for collection. You will be the only one who knows when to collect your R350 SRD grant, so it is crucial that you keep track of your status regularly.

Why are April & May Grants Still Pending?

Due to the SRD grant ending in March 2023, SASSA had a backlog of unpaid grants for April and May. The grant was extended to next year and payments resumed in June, so most applicants had the pending status during this time.

As the requirements for the new special grant had changed, SASSA asked beneficiaries to resubmit their applications for those months or to file an appeal if still unapproved.

When Will SASSA SRD End?

SASSA has extended the SRD grant to March 2023 in order to continue supporting citizens who are struggling financially.

During the hard lockdown of the pandemic, SASSA decided to extend the grant by another 12 months in order to help those in need.
